I thought we had a creepy stalker

I can't believe it's already almost May! But what that means is that tomorrow on the 30th it's Valborg in Sweden. Pretty much it's a holiday where you make a giant fire and burn lots of stuff. I'll make sure to send pictures next week!

This week had been a little bit of a different one. So we spend several hours cleaning the old apartment we used to live in with a senior couple from Stockholm who came down to help us do the finishing touches. But we also got to go to Halmstad to do a baptismal interview of someone bring taught there who'll be getting baptised next week. I'm excited for them!

Another interesting turn of events is that me and my companion are temporarily off sugar. We were teaching someone who is doing really well but was having a hard time understanding and keeping the Word of Wisom so we told them we'd go off sugar if they go off coffee. That way they're not the only one quitting something hard and they can be accountable to us. So that's been fun so far!

Funny story time! So Elder Merrell and I were headed home one evening and were talking while waiting for our bus to come. We were close to the road and behind and to the side of us was a glass walled bus stop waiting place. As we were talking someone on the other side of the glass caught my attention because he was staring at me. When I looked at him, he lifted up his phone towards me and showed me Elder Merrell's Facebook. I was way confused and a little worried how this stranger I'd never met had his Facebook! Kinda scary and surreal! Then to make it worse he pulled up my Facebook and showed me that one as well just through the glass without saying anything! So I just walked over to the other side of the bus stop and talked to him. He turned out to be an inactive member that we'd recently heard about and added as a friend on Facebook but had never accepted. But then when he saw us on the street he recognized us! So now we have some contact with him. It was a pretty strange experience but a really lucky miracle actually!

Recently there has been a video produced by the church I'd encourage you to watched. It has a powerful message and relates a lot to what has been mentioned about social media and just phone use during past general conferences. Take a few minutes and check it out (click here)!

Have a fantastic week!

Also, I'll attach a picture from last year's Valborg just so you can see.

Happy Easter!

I hope it's been a wonderful week with Easter and everything! It's been a great one out here. Its actually been really dinner and warm, and it feels good to have Spring (and the warmth!) here.

We had an in person district council this week in Halmstad with exchanges directly following. It was way fun honestly! We are lunch after District Council at a really nice place that made us some fancy Schwarma and it was super tasty! Then Elder Seely and I were on exchanges. We found some, taught some, and ended the evening off with some homemade cheese filled burgers. It was a great day!

This week in preparation for Easter Sunday and church we gave out tooons of fliers inviting people. Because the Sisters that used to be in the area left we were left with all 600 fliers but were able to get them all out! It felt good to be able to invite so many people to come and focus on Christ this season. On Sunday my companion and I watched the bible videos under the Final Events category the church made. It began with the triumphal entry to Jerusalem until after the resurrection, and it was amazing actually. It really brought my focus onto the Savior and the incredible message that comes with Easter. I would also encourage you to read "The Living Christ" to hear the testimonies of special witnesses about the Savior. So much power and knowledge comes with proper knowledge about Christ and a strong testimony that He lives.

Have a wonderful week!

General Conference and Happy Easter!

Well, I didn't write last week so some of the exciting news can be talked about a week late. We got transfer calls and the Sisters here in Helsingborg have been transferred out so it will be just one pair of elders here. And we have actually moved to their apartment as well and will be returning the one we used to live in in Landskrona. It's some pretty crazy stuff actually! It is sad that the sister have left and the ward is pretty bummed out!

They moved out on Tuesday so we have since moved in all out things and last Monday we cleaned a TON! It's been good though. And shout out to the sisters for leaving everything so clean, we appreciate it! It's been a strange transition but I am really excited for everything moving forward!

Besides that we have also been teaching whenever we can and giving out lots and lots of fliers inviting people to come and celebrate Easter with us this Sunday. It's been lots of fun!

I also just wanted to quickly mention general conference here. Firstly, we bought and consumed a ton of candy for it which was fun. But the actual conference itself was amazing. I felt a power from the words and testimonies of everyone in the conference but especially President Nelson. I would encourage anyone who has not seen his talk on Sunday morning to watch that. There are living prophets today!

Have a great Easter everyone! Don't forget to celebrate and remember why we have Easter in the first place amidst all the candy and fun!

Watch conference this weekend!

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope it's been a good week for you all so far. We have general conference coming up this week so I'm excited and looking forward to that! I really am interested to see the messages and focuses that we have in store for us. The last week was a good one too though!

This week we had Zone Conference down in Malmö! It is always fun to meet old mission friends, talk to new people, and learn a ton of good stuff. Put mission President is such an inspired man! I love being around him and catching the vision for the mission and for the country. The focuses were really good and it was great to be able to meet, talk to, and give a Book of Mormon to someone on our train back to Landskrona after Zone Conference.

We helped a family move from one side of town to the other and it was nice. Haha, the best part was the partially working elevator that led to us having to walk a total of around 35 flights of stairs throughout the move. It was good exercise and it felt nice to help some members that needed it.

This last week we planned to go out to a little tiny village outside of the city where we live. It was a little community of around 20 houses and there was apparently a less active that lived there. So we went out, knocked them, and went by the member. And it turned out that the member had actually moved away around 10 years ago, but his ex-member mom still lived there. After avoiding death from her 3 rambunctious dogs we ended up talking for a while. We talked about the area where she lived, her family, and eventually why it was that she left the church. And her answer had made me think some. She said she didn't like all the rules and how she just felt so restricted, so she made the decision to leave them behind. If we do not feel the joy or spiritual feeling that comes through the gospel and by living it, we won't last in the long run. I don't think anyone can really just obey out of pure feeling of responsibility forever or else they will burn out. So I encourage you all to take a step back and think about the joy, peace, belonging, and internal spiritual growth that comes through the day to day obedience and remember why it is we actually choose to follow God.

Have a wonderful week!
